The Learning Centre The project will include plans to provide and promote education on aspects of Newton’s life and work relating to his faith and science, for the benefit of local, national and international communities. Improvements within the church will provide a much needed place for use by the community in the centre of the village and a new teaching and learning centre. Learning will be at the heart of the project. An exhibition and display area in the church will create a welcoming environment for deeper engagement, interpretation, discussion, study and learning. Visitors will be able to understand more about faith and science in Newton’s life and work and to appreciate the history and architecture of the church. We shall work in partnership with the National Trust to complement and extend their educational work at Woolsthorpe Manor and encourage more visitors to follow theHeritage Trailbetween the manor and the church. The project is a long-term, sustainable scheme which will also focus on the arts and establish a centre for national and local community events
The project will focus on the Newton family chapel, which will be restored to provide access to Newton memorabilia and a place for quiet contemplation, art displays, recitals and meetings. A commemorative stained-glass window dedicated to Isaac Newton will be commissioned for the chapel.
